Selecting an antenna

In general lower frequency antennas can penetrate deeper, but have lower resolution and the higher frequency antennas have higher resolution with shallower penetration.

When it comes to the size of the targets there is a rule of thumb saying that one should not try to locate a target at depths greater than 10 times it size - so for 1" targets one would have the depth limitation of only 10", for a 4" target it would be 40" etc.
